We’re well on our way into September here, rains have finally kicked in, and the growing is good. Before we all start worrying about how long we can ward off frost, let’s take a moment to appreciate how beautiful the CSA full harvest is. Potluck anyone? Please check out my page of recipes.

Two weeks later than planned, we are putting onion and leek starts in prepared beds at Be’s. When spring comes early and suddenly it is hard to keep up with it and with the huge amount of preparation that goes into each season. Yet we are aiming for a big first harvest in July and even greater diversity each week throughout the season.

We will be posting upcoming work days online, so check back when you are wondering what’s on the schedule.I cannot read the gallery's xml file: /f1/content/gallupgrowers/public/blog/wp-content/photos/March_09/gallery.xml

    From the Local Harvest e-newsletter:

This month, with the economic stimulus package on the news day and night, we putting a twist on all this and presenting you with our “Top Four Reasons You’ll Save Money by Joining a CSA.”

Fresh produce = tasty produce. This means your family is more likely to want to EAT it. Nothing wastes your food budget faster than tossing food out uneaten.
No guarantees, but CSAs oftentimes deliver more food for your dollar than either the grocery store or the farmers market.
Fresh produce is GOOD for you. Call it preventative medicine and think of all the money/time/energy you save by doing all you can to stay healthy.
Having great produce around the house will prompt you to cook more and eat out less.
